Hi

i've notice some bug on the material editor:
- when i try to paste a color i had copied from another material, it's copied always black
- as i probably said in another thread the global coordinates modifier remain stucked on the last used material setting

i'm using the last version of thea for rhino .1973

Hello @Mokugino ,

I can not replicate this issue, copy pasting colors works fine for me. Would you mind posting more details about when it happens?

I've encountered big slowdowns copying/pasting materials from one file to another
This is almost instant in the cases i tried, are you perhaps using Substance 3D materials or materials with displacement? If that's the case then slowdowns are expected as these materials are quite heavy and need to be converted when copied.

As for the global coordinates modifier it is not a per material thing, it is a tool for overwriting all texture coordinates so it is working as intended, although we are looking to change it since it can be confusing and difficult to use.

Hi @Mokugino.
as i probably said in another thread the global coordinates modifier remain stucked on the last used material setting
The Global Coordinates Modifier ovewrites the values instead of acting as an override. This means that whatever value you use in there will overwrite the values of the current material's channels when the checkbox is ticked.
We need to rethink about the global modifier as it looks more as an override which is not the case.

i've tried with another model (and material) and it works. it seems to be tied to a specific model.

same for the slowdowns, i will try with other models

i'm more confused now, probably my bad english doesn't help :(
I thought the purpose of the global coordinates modifier was to change the values of all bitmaps of a single material to save time. when I subsequently edit another material, I don't expect to find the values of the previous material already entered, but to start from the standard situation, even if I activate it....I don't know if I explained myself well.
Wasn't that the purpose of the gcm?

@Mokugino I think that I am the one that described it poorly.

Exactly. The current UI does not work exactly like that and adds more confusion. We have added this to our to-do list.
