Install - Uninstall

Download and execute the Thea for Rhino installer from:
Thea Render website or Altair One Marketplace

After installation, Rhino needs to be restarted once for the plugin to initialize properly.

Run the installer and follow the instructions.

  • Choose Components: Select if you want to install basic materials and LUT files along with the plugin.
  • Choose Data Location: The next screen (see image 2) gives you the option to select the path to the "Thea Data" folder.
  • Rhino Package Installation Wizard: Rhino's package installer will install Thea for Rhino.

The plugin installation path depends on the selection of the last step. It is best to leave it to the default options "Just Me".

The "Thea Data" folder is where the plugin looks for assets such as materials, models and other files such as LUTs and assets from the Online Repository.

After successfully installing Thea for Rhino, you will be able to find a new menu entry called "Thea Render". There are shortcuts there to display the Thea Render toolbar among other things.

Set Thea Render as the default render from the main menu: Render > Current Renderer > Thea for Rhino.
When the plugin is the current renderer, you will be able to see the new "Thea Material" in Rhino's material tab.

To uninstall Thea for Rhino, go to Windows > Settings > App & Features and find "Thea Render for Rhino" from the list.

If you want to delete the "Thea Data" folder as well, make sure to tick the checkbox. Be aware that the Thea Data folder contains all the models, materials and environments that were installed or created by you. Make sure to have a back up before removing the "Thea Data" folder.
