Allot of good and valid points.

And the ones I immediately agree with are that SU is not an application for rendering animation. Thea4SU is not either. WAY TOO MUCH time... which stills make me a bit sad.

Secondly... file size and rendering (let alone moving SU models around when they go beyond 800MB) becomes a pain.

However, since it's the only soft I use... I have to find ways to make it work.

Some points have nothing to do with Thea though. For example Thea can render animation just fine, it just needs input. One thing it lacks, but i believe c4d does have it is vector blur or motion blur for deforming objects.

I never understood why they dropped quite some plugins. They hardly focus on marketing on any of them, never really did and still not doing it i think.

You render animation just fine if you have a enough brute force. This will be not any different in a other render engine. Difference is that some have huge support, followers and users. So you probably run into a farm much faster.

No nothing to do with thea except their choice to drop support for major apps. I was more responding to Hieru to say what I think lacks in Sketchup and why you don't see bigger names working on thea or sketchup.

The other thing is that the thea4su plugin is completely integrated in sketchup and supports every feature. From what I remember the other plugins (3dsmax, blender,...) never got completely integrated and didn't support every feature of the host app.

I think if they come back to those apps, especially 3dsmax, thea should make a free acces to the beta to get a lot of power-users on board and debug the plugin as fast as possible, then launch the plugin at a fair price with already a big userbase. Like corona did and they did it so well chaos had to buy them over to not completely lose the archviz renderer battle. For Blender I think it will be very difficult to move the users from the free and perfectly integrated cycles/evee to thea.

I have almost all features integrated, yet not color or texture layering or procedurals with thea4Blender. For those mats i still use Thea Mat editor which is just fine. I prefer Thea mat editor as the GUI still makes a lot of sense and is very is to use.

If you want more and faster animation and such you need start looking at EEVEE for blender 2.80

Go check this post, look how marvelous it looks, EEVEE renders realtime in most cases
https://blenderartists.org/t/first-snow ... /1138643/2

This guy made this using blender 2.80 for couple hours. Though he probably had Blender EEVEE knowledge already of course. Super cool

Did you try doing a Thea Render search?

https://www.behance.net/search?content= ... a%20Render
You are right I was using some search filters in Behance. So I found some more Thea renders and some high-quality ones as well.

There are some great renders in that topic and they showcase well what Thea is capable of.
