I am not really into the Game of Thrones frenzy (only watched two initial episodes...) but a colleague in Altair has made an interesting "fun" research, debunking the catapults in the series. Basically -- spoiler -- the structure of these weapons cannot withstand the task.

I've just binge watched all of them over the last month or so lol
I think Mythbusters proved they where very un reliable and more likely to distroy themselves, I've seen other programs that have built them using basic tools and they were really dodgy to use and rubbish range

Ive seen one off these which was throwing cars all over the place. Cant remember if this was mythbusters or something else though. But the thing looked and worked legit.

I did just found this one, but im not sure it was this which i saw.

Mythbusters did a huge one boom crane .. really dodgy and scary to watch, I think the myth was the crane fell into a gap and swung with enough force to launch whatever it was carrying
