jiminy-billy-bob is creating the plugin and there is an internal beta in progress at moment.

PS if we need more than 5 masks, how is this done?

Ditto, I used to (ab)use the material ID masks with Vray/3DSmax (we got 15 maximum) so I'd like to see this possibility within Thea too.
Note that within 3dsmax, the material ID masks were rendered as RGB channels (so: 3 material masks per image; you need 5 RGB images to have the 15 mat ID available) which was a very practical solution as the masks were pixel-perfect in Photoshop.
