Hi All!
We have prepared two scenes using the new fog functionality.
The Pathway scene uses the Fog Preset from the Global Medium panel. Use the Fog Density, Top & Base Level parameters to control the overall look of the fog.
The Entrance scene is based on the new material preset called Cloud that was introduced in version v1.5.09.539.1462. There is a bounding box surrounding the scene that has a "Cloud" material applied to it. To avoid black renderings when the camera is inside that box, the Cloud material needs to be selected from the Container drop-down of the Camera properties in the Thea Tool window. The density of the Cloud Material preset can be controlled by changing the opacity.

Perfect timing! Thank you. Looking forward to testing these.
George, is there any documentation to accompany these to explain exactly what does what?
Or are these examples to test and try to mimic?

Thank you. Great Entrance scene. I never used global medium before. Now I see that it is important addition to Thea arsenal, because it makes completely different atmosphere in some cases, when one can not illustrate architectural space without it. It also adds more diffused light in interior the lack of which was discussed so many times here. You know, the problem of too dark shadows in spite of high ISO etc. It seems to me that diffusion from the air particles was missing. I tried entrance seen without the Box - It was a way too dark (because of high contrast CRF I've never found the use for before).

Definetelly, I'm using it on all my renders now. It also helps disguise context that is poorly modelled. It's an incredible time saver and it's been hidden there so many years just because it had a complicated setup.saurus wrote:Thank you. Great Entrance scene. I never used global medium before. It's incredible how Thea has such tremendous potential and with a UI that is simple to use, it can really be put to show and enhance our possibilities.

Interesting examples, the entrance one especially as a bounding medium box was used and a 'cloud' material applied to it, this works best as the model has multiple areas where light filters in, but would be very dark and hard to clear if there was just one light source. Great learning model and a solution to an old model I have had issues with.

I've been awed by Solo's super efforts with fog, but had no idea how he did it.
That Pathway scene has such a great ambiance!!
Thank you for making such a great UI for a powerful tool.
