I just purchased Thea Render for sketchup. I am trying to do some renderings with IES files from different manufacturers but the lights are not emitting light correctly. The IES files are casting odd shadows and are obviously not working correctly. The IES files work fine my other lighting analysis programs, just not in Thea. It doesn't make a difference which rendering engine I use either. The IES files that came with Thea work fine. None of the IES files that I download from lighting manufacturers will work though. The light in the image is a simple symmetrical flood light and obviously rendering incorrectly. I tried to upload the IES file, but this site would not let me. Any help would be great! If I cant use external IES files, the program will be of no value to me. Thanks.

I would like to see a screen shot of the actual model...
To me it looks like the IES component is intersecting with the mesh...
Alternatively, I suggest you share the scene (incl. the IES component) with the Solid Iris support team, enabling them to check things...

Thanks for the interest. I tried uploading the ies file but the forum will not allow the upload of a file ending in ".ies". Here is the sketchup and Thea files though. hopefully someone can make sense of it. Thanks agin.

The IES file is from Lumenpulse lighting and I have the same issues with Lithonia lighting or any other manufacturer that I try to use. the files are in the NA IES, north America IES format. Does Thea use a different standard? Do you know which one it is? Also, do you know if there is a way to convert between formats? Thanks in advance.

I see. We will have a look at this then.
I am personally not familiar with IES standards. I though, there is just one. I have to consult Giannis on this.
Do you have a reference picture of how this particular IES light distribution should look like?
